ICC T20 WC 2009! Yeh Cup hamara hai….

Alright, Alright. I was the biggest critic of the team that had been sent to play inaugural ICC T20 WC and I prophesied the debacle. They surprisingly proved me wrong, and came back triumphant and took the team to the heights that had never been thought of. I still don’t like Dhoni but that guy has uncanny leadership skills. He follows his intuitions and 8 outta 10 times they don’t let him down. This time we are going there as favorites so more pressure is guaranteed but Captain Kakdi ,as our very own fakie calls him, doesn’t look scared or tensed with the expectations.

So far we have confirmed our berth in super 8s with pretty ease. If my calculations are correct, we are gonna be fighting for semifinal spot in the group stage against Proud Porkies, Whites with the black cloths, and fans of Akon. Our record against island dwellers hasn’t been that great and I am damn sure we are gonna win the first T20 against them. Fans of Akon are as capricious as their idol’s live performances. If Big Red Monster is in disastrous mood, he can make mockery of any bowling attack. With our bowlers like, Ir-the slow- fan and RP-the uncontrolled- Swing anything can happen. We are gonna keep intact our WC record against divided Porkies for sure. So, We are most likely to finish at the first place of our group. So, I guess It is gonna be India-Sri Lanka and New Zealand- South Africa semifinals. I hope we go through and win this one as well.

Cheers!!!!

OMG!! Before I finish this post I realized that I got it all wrong. As I said if my calculations are not wrong but provided that I totally suck at Math they were wrong. I mean A1,B2,C1,D2 were fixed from very beginning. In that case, Our blues are gonna face The greats (yeah the only country which puts an adjective in front of its name), The Akon fans and The Caps of good hopes. I guess in that case, the Caps would be very tough to beat. But eventually with the two bonus points from league stage India should qualify for semis at second spot from group E. From group F Whites with The Black Cloths and Ravans would easily qualify leaving porkies moaning. Stage is set for Champs versus Proteas finale.

Cheers again!

Disclaimer :

I am still bad at Math so don’t rely too much on this post and place your bets. This predictions can go miserably wrong.

This guy has potential, no doubts about it. He looks in fine nick in the tournament and he is the brightest of the young talents no doubts. With him and Gambhir, future of Indian batting lineup looks more than promising. Kudos!!

Rohit Sharma – Future of Indian Cricket

Rohit Gurunath Sharma. This 20 years old , Boriwali dweller has really done well enough to catch everyone’s attention. This guy has style, technique, maturity, composure and talent. Yeah, he has all the qualities of becoming one of the best batsman in modern day cricket. Co-incidentally he also belongs to Mumbai.  In past lot of youngsters showed talent and commitment but this guy has an edge over all of them. He has almost every shot in his kitty and the way he plans his inning has striking resemblance with none other than The best batsman of all time Sachin Tendulkar. Ya, I know it’s too early to compare him with Sach but I am just saying he has ability to reach near him. I think Rohit has always performed when his team has needed him the most. That puts him way above others. He handles pressure with tremendous ease.  Very few people know that he is a good part time off spinner as well. with young legs and great reflexes he apparently suits at the point or gully.

To cut the long story short I have to say I have become his Fan. Yesterday his innings against KXI was awesome. He maintained his cool when needed and he shifted gears fabulously well in last 4 overs. He made crucial 74 of 42 balls even though he was running out of partners. He played all the cricketing shots.. No slogs or no periscope cut nothing.. That’s the secret of his good batting.. You don’t need to hit the ball hard every time sometimes ease and grace does the job.

IPL Squads – kis me kitna hai dum….

I am so excited about this upcoming great Indian cricket drama IPL. It’s really gonna be great to watch the clash of titans. I was having a look at the squads at cricinfo. I just thought of putting a elaborative analysis which can help all to choose their favorites.

First I would like to start with MUMBAI INDIANS as they are my favorites just because of Sachin. This team doesn’t look that good on paper in spite of having two of the greatest openers of all time in history of One day Internationals, Master blaster and Jaysuriya. Sachin has already indicated that he is not gonna play all the matches of IPL as he wants youngsters to get a proper chance (bravo god!!). Jaysuriya is really struggling with his fitness these days and his form was abysmal in the recent CB series. His bowling can certainly add dimension to Indians’ attack. Now, there is one T20 specialist in the squad but who didn’t prove himself in any of the match of T20 WC. Yeah, I am talking about Loots Bosman. I find him useless. Next is Robin Uthappa. Lot of things are gonna depend on this guy. He played well in T20 WC and he certainly has talent. So for me man to watch out for is Uthappa. Ashwell Prince doesn’t seem to fit in this demanding T20 format. I expect lot from these two OZ blokes Luke Ronchie and Dominic Thronely. So batting department doesn’t look that promising. Lot of youngsters like Rohan Raje, Rajesh Pawar, Ajinkya Rahane, Gaurav Dhiman, Siddharth Chitnis, Saurabh Tiwari are there to watch out for. Bowling is headed by Malinga being spearhead. Fernando bowls really well in slog overs. Shaun Pollock doesn’t look that promising with his good length consistent and predictable bowling. Bhajii bowled really really well in T20 wc. So, his presence will make difference. In middle overs him and Jaysuriya can give tough time to batsmen. I strongly believe Nehra doesn’t even deserve chance in my society team so no comments about him. With so many young legs in the squad fielding is surely gonna be top class. Mumbai has always produced superb fielders anyways. I am sure chemistry between Sach and Rajput is gonna boost the confidence of the team.

Indians may not look that good on paper but they will surely be threat to some ‘big’ teams. Look at Chalsea, they don’t have big names either…

Actually I was gonna write about all 8 teams but I got bored in the beginning only.. And way better analysis exists on cricinfo so u guys have better look at it.. Chao..

Proteas face the chin music!! Viru, in league of his own….

28th March.. Do you know what’s so special about that day? Ok, everyone knows Today, Viru blasted the fastest triple century in the history of cricket and joined the club of Don and Lara who have crossed this magical figure of 300 more than once. But how many of you knew that he made his maiden test triple century on the same day in 2004 at Multan? So that really makes this day special for Virender Sehwag. Now I think what could have been the result of the final of WC ‘03 if it was played on 28th March ‘03 instead of 23rd March ‘03.

Today Viru made the pitch look like totally dead and bowlers totally rookie. But RD started blocking almost everything and made pitch and bowlers both look reasonably formidable. Anyways, this day totally belonged to Indian batsmen or lets say Virender Sehwag. Now tomorrow all eyes will be on Viru, I think Lara’s record is seriously under threat. Apart from that, what should be the ideal time to declare the innings will be the first question on Jumbo’s mind. I would say India should try scoring runs as fast as they can in the first session. If they manage to bowl visitors out in 3 sessions. They will be chasing target of 200-220 in 2 sessions and that looks totally possible. Chennai pitch behaves totally erratically in last two days. And with only one mediocre spinner like Harris SA won’t be that hopeful of winning this game.
